Bloodborne Animated Film Confirms Screenwriter and Director, Project Makes Substantial Progress

The screenwriter and director for the Bloodborne animated film have been confirmed. More than half a year after the project was announced, these two key positions have finally been filled. The team has also planned additional story content and assembled the necessary personnel to continue driving the project forward.

Producer Seán “Jacksepticeye” McLoughlin confirmed these developments in an interview, but the identities of the screenwriter and director, as well as specific plot details, remain confidential, with the team yet to announce when they will be revealed. He stated that, as a fan of the original work himself, he hopes to handle this important IP as accurately as possible, though meeting all players' expectations is nearly impossible.

McLoughlin believes that Bloodborne contains many surreal elements, some of which would be difficult and potentially too costly to realize in live-action, making animation more suitable for presenting the game's world. The adaptation will not simply retell the game's original story; instead, the team prefers to find new stories within the existing world and explore the differences in narrative approaches between film and interactive games.

The team may be paying attention to how the live-action Elden Ring film is handled, but McLoughlin stated that the worlds and narratives of the two works are vastly different, so they do not wish to be overly influenced by it. Currently, no release date, full creative team list, or plot summary has been announced for the Bloodborne animated film.
