Ubisoft Pauses Assassin's Creed Remakes to Focus on New Titles Like The Witcher

Ubisoft has confirmed that no other Assassin's Creed remasters are currently in active development. Following the release and strong sales of Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag: Memory Reset, the company has not immediately initiated the next remaster project, instead directing existing teams toward the next phase of the series.

Ubisoft stated that relevant teams are also working on unannounced projects featuring new settings and stories. The company remains open to exploring opportunities for bringing older titles back, but this does not mean new remasters have been greenlit. This announcement comes as Ubisoft undergoes restructuring, including project cancellations, studio closures, and layoffs.

Assassin's Creed: Hexe is progressing well, with the team continuing to develop around its unique concept; the next update is expected in 2027. The multiplayer project, Assassin's Creed: Invictus, is also moving forward, with hundreds of players recently experiencing an early prototype. Feedback indicated that while the foundation shows promise, it requires more core elements characteristic of the Assassin's Creed franchise. The development team has adjusted its direction accordingly while retaining the multiplayer focus.

Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag: Memory Reset will also receive one final major update, featuring New Game+, Nightmare Mode, new rewards, finishing moves, cosmetics, and more customization options.
