After about a month of testing, a newcomer to World of Warcraft with extensive MMORPG experience believes that World of Warcraft: Infinite lowers the barrier to entry for latecomers while preserving the retro feel of the original. The game is scheduled for release on November 4, 2026.
This tester had invested over 5,000 hours in Final Fantasy XIV and also experienced hundreds of hours in The Elder Scrolls Online. However, the numerous expansions, world changes, and missed pets and mounts always made her feel pressured about entering Azeroth, and even World of Warcraft Classic failed to provide her with a suitable starting point.
During the trial period, she chose the newly added Void Elf race and embarked on an adventure as a Druid. She found character creation simple and appealing, and felt that the cycle of exploration, quests, group challenges, and returning to one's corpse as a ghost after death continuously drives players forward. Loot distribution from quests is fairer than in earlier versions, and the intervals between leveling up and learning skills help newcomers gradually understand DPS and healing roles.
World of Warcraft: Infinite has not completely shifted to modern design. Menus and interfaces still appear outdated, and the HUD requires manual adjustment by players; combat retains the clunkiness of early online games, and mana management remains strict. Testers believe these designs continue the characteristics of the 2004 original in terms of combat, dialogue, cartoonish animations, and old-school fantasy atmosphere, helping her understand for the first time why World of Warcraft has long attracted players.
