Developer Alkimia has released the first functional update for Gothic Remake. This update introduces Photo Mode and Marvin Mode, expands standard gameplay, and fixes various issues.
Players can access Photo Mode from the pause menu or quickly launch it by pressing the L key, using the associated tools to capture scenes in the game world. Alkimia previously announced this feature in August.
Marvin Mode serves as the official cheat mode. Players can enable it by pressing Esc, typing "MARVIN," and pressing Esc again; to disable it, press Esc and type "42." This mode allows players to pick difficult locks, teleport to other locations, spawn items, and generate characters or creatures.
Standard gameplay has also been expanded. After joining the Swamp Camp, players can access additional Brotherhood immersion and customization options through a camp member; sitting on benches now allows the use of the wait function to fast-forward in-game time. Weapon crafting stats have been improved, sound feedback has been added, and a dedicated animation has been introduced for characters who die in water after taking damage.
This patch addresses issues with equipment, journals, quests, and character behavior, including bugs where two identical rings couldn't be equipped properly, certain location and enemy journal entries failing to unlock, duplicate sales of the Water Mage Robe, and potential progression blocks when handling the "Aaron Chest" quest in different orders. Interaction angles with the golem corpse in Chapter 4 have also been improved.
The patch also adds fallback handling for Lester, Milten, and Gorn if players obtain the Focus Stone early, fixes an issue where Urshak fails to appear at the Ruined Castle after triggering the quest to find the Orc Shaman, and adjusts Mad Kalom's combat behavior, pathfinding, and attacks in specific situations.
Gothic Remake is now available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. Alkimia has stated that their next project will be revealed in 2027.
